This chasen is made in the senke style, with curled bristles. This means that this chasen can be used for any school of matcha.
 
Production methods in the small village of Takayama have been perfected over 500 years. These Takayama Chasen are made entirely by hand by a certified chasen master Kubo Sabun from locally grown Japanese bamboo.
 
Kubo Sabun represents the 24th generation of chasen craftsmen in his family. He has devoted his life to the making of chasen. His craftsmanship has a long history and has been passed on from generation to generation.
